Jack Draper Grabs His First Masters 1000 Title

Jack Draper wins Indian Wells 2025 title

Summary:

  • Jack Draper’s fast 6-2, 6-2 victory against Holger Rune brought him an ATP Masters 1000.
  • The 23-year-old managed the feat in less than 70 minutes on Sunday.
  • Tim Henman praised Draper’s performance.

Jack Draper took home his first ATP Masters 1000 title following a commanding victory featuring straight sets over Denmark’s Holger Rune at the Indian Wells which Non UK bookmakers had great odds on especially after his surprise victory against Carlos Alcaraz .

“I Wasn’t Expecting It At The Start of the Week”

It only took 68 minutes for the British No. 1 to secure his impressive 6-2, 6-2 win and cap off a remarkable run at the BNP Paribas Open.

Draper set the tone early, breaking Rune’s serve in the very first game and doubling down soon after to race through the opening set in just 30 minutes.

He kept his foot on the gas in the second set, breaking again at the first opportunity and never looking back.

Jack Draper admitted to Sky Sports,

I wasn’t expecting it at the start of the week. I had a rocky start to the year with an injury, so to be in this position now is beyond words.

Reflecting on his aggressive approach in the final, Draper emphasized the importance of maintaining control in high-pressure moments.

I speak to my coach a lot about these later rounds in tournaments. I’ve lost matches in the past because I’ve gone passive and haven’t taken it to the opponent and played on my terms and played to win. To play the way I did from the first ball, to look for my forehand, to serve well, it’s a good, coming-of-age moment for my game.

“I Feel Like I Deserve It In All Honesty”

His triumph will propel him to a career-high world No. 7 ranking, a milestone that carries deep personal significance.

I feel like I deserve it in all honesty. The amount of adversity I’ve been through, the amount of sacrifices, the amount of time all the people around me have put into me and the hard work. It’s an emotional feeling to know how much you’ve gone through and put in and to be here now, to say I’m going to seven in the world, I can’t tell you how much that means to me.

Despite the breakthrough victory, Draper remains focused on long-term growth rather than specific rankings or tournament targets.

I’m not really thinking about any outcomes, ranking-wise or events-wise. Obviously I want to be a great player and I want to achieve amazing things in this sport, but my main goal is to keep on improving and keep on knuckling down.

Draper’s triumph drew praise from former British No. 1 Tim Henman, who called the victory a defining moment.

Absolutely brilliant performance. He absolutely took Rune apart 6-2, 6-2 to win his first Masters title. This is a day he will remember forever.
