On Monday, the third day of the 2024 Olympics, Tom Daley won his fifth Olympic medal after he grabbed the silver medal alongside Noah Williams in the men’s synchronised 10m platform.

Team GB bagged four other medals over the weekend. Two of the medals came in on Saturday via Anna Henderson who won silver in women’s individual time trial cycling and Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen who won bronze in women’s synchronised 3m springboard.

On Sunday, Team GB added another bronze medal courtesy of kayaker Kimberley Woods and a silver medal via swimmer Adam Peaty in men’s swimming at 100m breatstroke.

In the meantime, Andy Murray claimed an epic double win next to Dan Evans

Here is a brief rundown of the most important highlights of the first three days.

3 Days In, 3 Medals In The Pool For GB

Daley and Williams delivered an excellent first dive that brought them a 53.40 score after performing an inward 1½ somersaults

The Brits took the lead over the Canadians as the optional dives began in Round 3. While both teams performed dives that were equally difficult, Daley and Williams scored almost five points better.

They were topped by Chinese duo Junjie Lian and Hao Yang who won gold on their Olympic debuts after winning at the world championships for the past three years.

Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen claimed bronze in synchronised diving, marking Team GB’s first medal at the Games and Britain’s first female diving medal at an Olympics for 64 years

The duo finished third after their stellar performance on the boards and a costly mistake by the Australian’s on their final dive.

We are so pleased that we stood on the boards today and delivered as best we could

Whilst Peaty aimed to join Michael Phelps in the record books and become the second male swimmer to win the same event at three successive Olympics, Italian Nicolo Martinenghi ended his dream after claiming a stunning victory with a time that was two-hundredths of a second quicker.

Peaty touched the wall simultaneously with US Nic Fink, which means the two swimmers will share the silver medal.

I did as well as I could, It’s not about the end goal, it’s all about the process and it doesn’t matter what the time says on the score, in my heart, I’ve already won.

GB may have more success in the pool ahead with Duncan Scott and Matt Richards making it into the men’s 200m freestyle swimming final whilst Angharad Evans qualified for the women’s 100m breaststroke final and Ollie Morgan will be swimming in the men’s 100m backstroke final, respectively.

Other Successes At The Games So Far

Anna Henderson, who came second to Grace Brown in the individual time trial and claimed Great Britain’s second medal, explained she had to “rewire her brain” and “train how to be a cyclist” one decade before seeing her dream become reality.

I had a dream that maybe if all the stars aligned I could make the podium

Kimberly Woods’ 98.94 time was just what she needed to grab her first Olympic medal behind first-placed Australian Jessica Fox and Poland’s Klaudia Zwolinska.

The Murray-Evans duo is through to the last 16 of the men’s tennis doubles after saving five match points before beating Taro Daniel and Kei Nishikori from Japan, scoring 2-6 7-6 (5) 11-9.

In the men’s singles event, Jack Draper defeated Nishikori 6-1, 6-4 and Evans beat Moez Echargui 6-2 4-6 6-2.

Chelsie Giles: “Unfortunately, Paris 2024 Didn’t Go As Planned.”

Medal hopeful Judoka Chelsie Giles who attended her second Olympics lost to Brazilian Larissa Pimenta in the women’s 52kg round of 16.

In an Instagram post, Giles said

Unfortunately, Paris 2024 didn’t go as planned. Thank you everyone for the support. Well done to all the medalists. Good luck to all of Team GB!!

Cross-country mountain biker Evie Richards finished fifth in the women’s competition, 25 seconds off scooping up a medal.

Today was the best day ever. My friends and family all together sharing a moment we’ve dreamt of.

Rosie Eccles lost to Aneta Rygielska in the boxing women’s 66kg round of 32 in what looked like controversial circumstances.

Today, in my last dance it was the sport of boxing that has broken my heart. But I’ll never regret chasing the dream with every part of me

Pat Brown also made an early exit after losing 4-1 on points in his heavyweight round of 16 fight against Keno Machado from Brazil.

Katie Boulter exited the women’s tennis singles after losing 6-4 6-2 to Anna Karolina Schmiedlova from Slovenia.

Big Hopes for Team GB’s Gymnasts

Artistic gymnasts Becky Downie, Abi Martin, Georgia Mae-Fenton and Ruby Evans all qualified for Tuesday’s women’s team final after they ruled over their sub-division.

The girls finished with a score of 160.830.

Mae-Fenton and Kinsella will also participate in the individual all-around final.

Downie, who could not attend the Tokyo Olympics because of her brother’s passing, qualified for the uneven bars.
