Great Britain’s impressive start at the Paris 2024 has so far led to a total of 17 medals and counting.
The number represents Great Britain’s highest tally at this stage at an Olympics in history.
Given the Britons have won over 60 medals in each of the last three Olympics, it is safe to say more medals are on the way from the 327 participating athletes across 26 sports.
Day five on Wednesday is one fine example of what Team GB fans can expect to see from their favourites from now on.
Five Medals on Day 5, Including Two Gold in 15 Minutes
The medal rush that was already counting a toll of 12 was boosted with five new medals on Wednesday.
Alex Yee in the men’s triathlon and the women’s quad scull rowers made of Lauren Henry, Hannah Scott, Lola Anderson and Georgie Brayshaw brought in two new gold medals in 15 minutes.
While Yee seemed set for silver in the men’s event while trailing Hayden Wilde from New Zealand late on, the 26-year-old London-based triathlon pulled through in the closing stages and grabbed gold following his Tokyo silver.
The men’s triathlon was supposed to take place on Tuesday but had to be rescheduled until after Wednesday’s women’s race because of the River Seine’s poor water quality issue.
The women’s crew was seen training the Netherlands for all of the final and managed to put in one last push, leading to a spectacular photo-finish win.
British success also saw Beth Potter collect bronze in the women’s triathlon while Kieran Reilly grabbed silver in the men’s BMX freestyle final.
Diving duo Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix and Lois Toulson also won bronze in the women’s 10m synchronised springboard.
According to performance experts, British competitors are expected to win anywhere between 50 and 70 medals this year. Can Team GB continue this winning run? How many will they win overall? Get the best odds with Non UK Betting Sites selected by us.
