Summary:
- Harry Kane says a Premier League return is now less likely than when he first left Tottenham.
- The England captain is happy in Munich and open to extending his Bayern contract.
- He ruled out a move to MLS anytime soon, saying he still feels at his peak.
Harry Kane says he’s no longer sure about returning to the Premier League, admitting that his focus is firmly on life at Bayern Munich, and that he’s open to staying longer than planned.
When Kane left Tottenham for Bayern in 2023, he made it clear he hoped to come back to England one day. But two years on, his outlook has shifted.
Whilst on England duty, Kane said,
In terms of the Premier League, I don’t know. If you had asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I would have said for sure I would come back. Now I have been there a couple of years I would probably say that has gone down a little bit, but I wouldn’t say I would never go back.
The 32-year-old has settled well in Germany, winning his first major trophy last season and scoring 19 goals already this campaign. He’s clearly enjoying both his football and his family life in Munich.
Going back to my first point with Bayern right now I am fully all in with Bayern
“If It Happens, It Happens”
The England captain has two years left on his current contract, but he’s open to extending his stay.
In terms of staying longer (at Bayern), I could definitely see that. I have not had those conversations with Bayern yet, but if they were to arise I would be willing to talk and have an honest conversation.
He added that any decision would depend on how the next year goes and what the team achieves together.
If it happens, it happens. I don’t think there is any need to rush anything on both parts. If there is going to be an extension, it has to work for everyone and have a clear vision on where we see the club.
Harry Kane also made it clear that a move to Major League Soccer isn’t on the cards anytime soon.
I think MLS is too early for sure, the way I feel right now, the way I am playing right now. The MLS would be something later in my career when I am thinking about the last couple of years or so.
After finally winning silverware, Kane says he’s hungrier than ever.
When you win a title like I did last year, maybe it could be easy to go the other way. But it’s given me more motivation to do more and be better.
