Losing in Front of a Cheering Crowd

Fallon Sherrock initially looked strong, claiming the opening set with confidence. However, Meikle quickly found his rhythm and surged ahead by taking six straight legs, putting him 2-1 up.

Though Sherrock managed to hold her throw and force a deciding set, Meikle ultimately kept his composure, sealing the win despite a vocal crowd backing his opponent.

Meikle expressed his excitement about progressing and the prospect of playing 16-year-old sensation Luke Littler.

For me, it’s an unbelievable prize, to play Luke Littler on this stage – the biggest stage of them all, No one knows what is going to happen on Saturday, but to play him here, I’m really happy.

Reflecting on the match, Meikle acknowledged the early pressure.

I felt good coming into the match. But before I knew it, she won the first set and I was on the back foot, The crowd were behind Fallon – the atmosphere was unbelievable – and I just feel lucky to come through that in the end.

Wright, who hasn’t reached a televised final this year for the first time in over a decade, found himself under pressure after losing the third set. He was down 2-0 in the fourth but clawed his way back to secure the win.

It wasn’t my battling qualities, it was this crowd that got me through. They wanted me to win – I thank you all. Wesley had his chances, but he missed them and I took them.
