England’s 1-0 defeat against Serbia at the Euro 2024 on Sunday evening was brought by Jude Bellingham in the 13th minute.

The goal-scorer, who will be 21 in a few days, opened the scoring after he rushed into the box and headed in a deflected Bukayo Saka cross, which triggered English fans to start singing The Beatles’ “Hey Jude” to celebrate the early lead.

Bellingham, who showed Emgland off to a winning start in the campaign, has now won the title for the third youngest goal scorer at the Euros in the national team’s history, following Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen.

England, Undefeated in 8 Euro Matches After Leading at Halftime

Sunday’s victory at the Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, did not come as a surprise for many.

According to UEFA statistics, since the 2-1 defeat to France at Euro 2004, England’s team has remained undefeated in eight matches in the competition after leading at halftime.

The Three Lions won six matches and drew two.

On Sunday evening, captain Harry Kane could have nearly doubled his team’s lead in the 77th minute with a header.

However, Serbia’s goalkeeper Predrag Rajković managed to tip his effort off the top crossbar and away, for an excellent save.

Rajković’s team appeared to be poised to score the equalizing goal, as they were seen piling on the pressure against the Three Lions.

However, they struggled to find the back of the net in the finish. Thanks to the 1-1- draw recorded in the Denmark-Slovenia match earlier, England moved to the top of Group C.

England will face Denmark on Thursday, the same day when Serbia will also play against Slovenia. Why not checkout our selection of the best betting sites not on Gamstop for the latest odds ahead of the game.

Incidents Before the Match

The two groups were quickly separated and seven Serbians were taken into custody. One of them is the subject of a criminal complaint for grievous bodily harm.
