Shaw’s Injury Comeback Marked Her 100th Appearance

The abuse surfaced following City’s dramatic 4-3 defeat at the Joie Stadium, a match that marked Shaw’s 100th appearance for the club

The Jamaican forward, who has netted an impressive 86 goals for City, made her return to the pitch in the 66th minute, having only recently recovered from an injury sustained in December.

Her comeback on the field was expected to breathe fresh air into the team and result in festive celebrations at the end of the fixture. Instead, the player was subject to hateful messages on social media

City released a firm statement denouncing the unacceptable behavior in response to the disturbing incidents.

“Bunny Has Decided Not to Share the Messages Publicly ”

The 28-year-old forward born in Spanish Town, Jamaica, chose not to make the offensive messages aimed at her public “so as not to give the oxygen of publicity to the vile individuals who sent them”.

However, the content has been fully shared with the authorities, which announced an investigation will soon be initiated.

The club has voiced its full support with its player “following the disgusting treatment she’s received” and also took the opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to keeping players safe and protected both on and off the field

Fans, teammates, and football organizations have also rallied behind ‘Bunny’ Shaw, condemning the abuse and calling for stronger measures to combat discrimination in the sport.
