Fourth Win of the Season

Piastri’s victory brought the team’s fourth win of the season, a result that Norris commented on, saying he was “very happy with the result not just for myself, but for Oscar”.

Norris explained another win for his team mate was

Amazing so I’m very happy for him and therefore the whole team, because a win is always an amazing thing

He went further to say that a win along with a fourth victory for the season was

Even better from where we started and it was not what we were expecting today so a good points haul.

Norris added that he could “be happier if there wasn’t a yellow flag yesterday”.

The 24-year-old referred to what had occurred in the qualifying race where he was knocked out in Q1 because of slowing for yellow flags, starting from P15 on the grid which turned out to be quite the challenge which he seemed to relish as he was seen flying through the field with an extended stint on hard tyres.

While everyone thought Norris would cross the line in sixth position, the crash between Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz on the penultimate lap propelled him to fourth place.

He managed to go from P15 to finishing only five seconds away from the podium.

“Outscored Red Bull Again”

Norris explained that outsourcing Red Bull was exactly what they wanted to do and their “very strong race” and “amazing” car gave them “a lot of confidence going into the next few races”.

To catch Red Bull, to be outscoring them, to be out-pacing them, and to be the top team in Formula 1 is something we should all be very proud of.

There are seven more rounds this Formula 1 season, and McLaren is currently 20 points ahead of Red Bull in the heated fight for the constructors’ title.

For the first time since 2014, the British constructor is in the lead in the heated battle for the title, 20 points ahead of Red Bull,

Norris, who also took the opportunity to reflect on MacLaren’s improvement over the year since the driver finished 48s behind the race winner in the opening event in Bahrain, gave all the credit to the team and only took “a small part of it”.
